| memoria. Gabriel came into existence before the conception of Earth, thus remembering a time when no humans and animals existed to observe and provide entertainment. Being an archangel, Gabriel was important but quite arrogant, and would often subtly tease other angels about their apparently inferior devotion to God. Gabriel did nothing but follow his Father around obsessively, priding himself on being a great servant and wallowing in his own significance. When the human race finally came into being, he was quietly bothered and upset by God's personal dollhouse. He didn't fully understand what was so compelling about the tiny, panicking creatures, but for the sake of appearances he feigned care for them along with the other Seven Archangels. This project gave him a chance to stand more noticeably above inferior angels, and remained a favourite despite the secret belief - one which a majority of Heaven shared - that he would look perhaps more fitting at Lucifer's side. As the centuries passed, Gabriel was amongst the angels having the most contact with humans. He partially enjoyed this role because it was undisputable that he was powerful and close to God - and was feared and praised for such - but became disgruntled at the consistent habit that humans had of committing sin. It baffled and irritated him that even with all the miracles and glory, most of the humans did next to nothing to demonstrate their devotion, yet were still left relatively unpunished for it. When extensive punishments and massacres were carried out, Gabriel almost relished them. For this reason, he had a nearly friendly relationship with Uriel. Perhaps ironically, Gabriel served as a heavenly prophet of sorts, informing humans of the coming of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ. It was also in his job description to inform prophets of their duties and relation to God. Gabriel was not very fond of the prophets, and perhaps there was some level of jealousy at play. He also thought it rather unnatural that humans should have such powers of foresight. In the 17th century, Gabriel began to spend more time on Earth in vessel form, taking part in the battle of the influences known as The Balance. Gabriel was responsible for an extremely high percentage of successful heavenly influence, resulting in a lot of conflict and contact with competitive demons. Gabriel has a particularly strong level of disgust for Lucifer - the orignal rebel - and his armies. It bothered him further how easily the humans fell to the power of the demons surrounding them, and their lack of value for life. As the centuries passed, this opinion only became more solid. Although he displays some hypocritical behavior whilst in his vessel on Earth, giving into certain temptations, but maintaining an ignorant self-importance all the same. He often engaged in sex while on the human plane, but even in those "relationships" he maintained a subtle superior role. As the 20th century progressed, Gabriel became increasingly disturbed and disgusted by the state of the world and its dwindling interest in God. He fought hard in the Balance but seemed to lose almost as many souls as he gained, and - to his dismay - this was often pointed out by his subordinates. When he heard of a plan brewing in Hell of Lucifer's son escaping and unleashing the wrath of the Damned onto Earth, he was initially fretful. However, as he continued to ponder this, he realised that it might finally bring the judgement and punishment that humans deserved, and the chance to encourage them to strive harder for God's love. But due to the laws of the Balance and the general difficulty of the task, it seemed as though it might never manifest, so - after much consideration - Gabriel contacted Mammon through "reliable" half-breed demons and voiced his interest in the plan. He left his reasons for involvement deliberately vague, and joined the effort under the condition of discretion. |

| persona. Gabriel is undoubtedly proud and values his importance above other angels. He is quick to put down humans for their so-called inferior nature, as well as their weak worship for God. He often expresses this in a bittersweet condescending way when talking to humans, like a mother or a teacher quietly scolding a naughty child. He is confident in himself, and gifted at lulling people into a sort of security and vulnerability, yet is ultimately cynical about humanity. Despite his crimes against Heaven, he still looks down on all demons with contempt, and likes to toy with the lesser demons with disappointment and false pity. |

| arma. Gabriel has a natural aura that lures people into a sense of security and vulnerablity which makes it easier to Influence them. However, this isn't constant as such and only occurs when he consciously activates it. He doesn't feel pain, and is hard to affect on an emotional level. He can fly using his wings, but also move unseen by humans. He exhibits superhuman strength, and can affect his surroundings drastically with little input. For example, he knocked Constantine through several rooms with just a delicate puff of air. He can travel between Heaven and Earth at whim, but cannot enter Hell, and can only dwell on Earth in a vessel (as described above). He is strongly perceptive of feelings and emotions, but does not exercise much psychic ability, mainly because the thoughts of most humans don't interest him. Still, it's not unusual for him to use his powers to exercise that extra bit of control over humans. Being an Archangel, he can sense feelings and vague intentions in groups, over a wider area, although he cannot properly analyze them unless he concentrates on a specific human. All his powers are natural. |
